    This is the last Will and Testament of me William Chambers of Chinting in the Parish of Seaford in the County of Sussex Esquire touching the disposition of the Estates which it hath pleased God to bestow upon me First I give and devises all my Messuages Farms Lands Tenements and Hereditaments with the appurtenances situate in Seaford aforesaid and Blatchington in the said County both Freehold and Copyhold (the Copyhold parts thereof having been duly surrendered to the use of my will) unto my Brother Thomas Chambers To hold to him and his Heirs and Assigns In Trust nevertheless to sell the same or any part or parts thereof if he the said Thomas Chambers and my other Trustees and Executors hereafter named shall think it will be for the benefit of my Estate so to do And In such Case I direct that the Money arising by such Sale or Sales (after payment of the charges and Expences attending the same) shall go into and become part of the residuum of my personal estate and be disposed of in manner hereinafter directed But in Case the said Thomas Chambers shall happen to die before such Sale or Sales may have taken place Then and in such Case I give and devise the same premises or such parts thereof as may then remain unsold unto the Reverend Edward Robert Raynes of Lewes in the said County Clerk and his Heirs and assigns upon the like Trusts and for the same purposes And in Case the said Edward Robert Raynes shall also have departed this life before such Sale or Sales shall have been completed Then I give and devise the same premises or such parts thereof as may then remain unsold unto James Brooke of Blatchington aforesaid Gentleman and his Heirs and assigns upon the like Trusts and for the same purposes And in Case such Sale or Sales shall not take place or until such Sale or Sales upon Trust to permit and suffer my Wife Susannah Chambers and her Assigns to receive take and enjoy the Rents Issues and Profits of my said Estates or such part or parts thereof as shall remain unsold (if any) for and during the term of her natural life if she shall so long remain a widow and unmarried And from and after her decease or marriage to permit and suffer my Daughter Barbara Chambers and her assigns to receive take and enjoy the same Rents Issues and Profits (if any) until she shall attain the age of Twenty one years and when and as soon as she shall have attained that age I give and devise my said real Estate or such part or parts thereof as shall remain unsold with the Appurtenances unto my said Daughter Barbara and her Heirs and Assigns for ever But in case my said Daughter Barbara shall happen to die without leaving Issue lawfully to be begotten Then I give and devise my said Estates or such part or parts thereof as shall remain unsold with the Appurtenances unto my said Brother Thomas Chambers and his assigns for and during the term of his natural life and from and after his decease unto my Nephew Thomas William Chambers Son of my said Brother Thomas Chambers and his Heirs and assigns for ever All the Rest Residue and Remainder of my Goods Chattels and personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever together with the surplus arising from any Sale or Sales of my real Estates or any part or parts thereof as aforesaid after payment of all my just Debts Funeral Expences and the Charges of proving and executing this my Will I give and bequeath unto the said Thomas Chambers Edward Robert Raynes and James Brooke In Trust to place the same out at Interest upon Government or other good and sufficient Security or Securities and to permit and suffer my said wife Susannah to take receive and enjoy the Interest and produce thereof for and during the term of her natural life or widowhood and from and after her decease or marriage to permit and suffer my said Daughter Barbara to receive and enjoy the Interest and produce thereof (after paying the funeral Expences of my said wife ) for and during the natural life of my said Daughter And from and after her decease I give and bequeath all the said Rest Residue and Remainder of my personal Estate and the produce of any Sale or Sales of my real Estates or any part or parts thereof as aforesaid together with such Interest as may be due thereon unto and amongst all the Children of my said Daughter Barbara equally to be divided amongst them share and share alike or in such other proportions as my said Daughter Barbara shall or may in and by her last Will and Testament direct or appoint But in Case my said Daughter shall happen to die without issue Then and in such Case I give and bequeath the Interest and produce of the same (after paying thereout the funeral Expences of my said Daughter) unto my said Brother Thomas and his assigns for and during the term of his natural Life and from and after his decease I give and bequeath all such Residue and Remainder of my personal Estate and produce of my real Estates as aforesaid (if any) together with the Interest which may be due thereon unto my said Nephew Thomas William Chambers and my Niece Mary Chambers Daughter of my said Brother Thomas Chambers equally to be divided between them share and share alike And I Nominate Constitute and appoint the said Thomas Chambers Edward Robert Raynes and James Brooke Executors of this my Will and Guardians of my said Daughter and I direct that the Receipt or Receipts of my said Trustees and Executors or any or either of them shall be a sufficient discharge or discharges to the purchaser or purchasers of my said Estate or any part or parts thereof for so much Money as shall be expressed in such Receipt or Receipts to have been received and that such purchaser or purchasers shall not be accountable for the application thereof And I further direct that it shall be lawful for my said Executors and Trustees their Heirs Executors or Administrators or any of them from time to time to deduct retain recover and receive out of my said Estate to themselves and himself al such reasonable Costs Charges and Expences as they or any of them shall sustain or be put unto in and about the execution of the Trusts in them or any of them hereby reposed and that one shall not be answerable or accountable for the acts or Receipts of the others or other of them but each for his own Acts or Receipts only And that they or any of them shall not be accountable for any loss or losses which may happen of my said Estate or any part thereof without their wilful neglect or default And I revoke all former Wills by me made and declare this only to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament contained in two Sheets of paper to the first Sheet hereof set my had and to this second and last Sheet my hand and Seal the Fifteenth day of     This is the last will and Testament of me Martha Chambers of Seaford in the County of Sussex Spinster I Give and bequeath unto my Friend Edmund Cooper of Norton in the County of Sussex Gentleman his Executors and Administrators All my Estate whatsoever upon this Special Trust and Confidence that he the said Edmund Cooper shall put and place the same out at Interest or shall permit and suffer such as is already out at Interest to remain so And shall and will permit and suffer my Sister Barbary Ann to receive the Interest and Dividends thereof for and during the Term of her natural Life And from and immediately after her decease upon this further Trust and Confidence that the said Edmund Cooper shall and will divide the principal Money equally between all my Brothers and Sisters share and share alike and in Case any or either of them should happen to dye in the Life Time of my sister Barbary Ann leaving Issue that their child or children (if more than one) of him her or them so dying should be entitled to the part or share the Father or Mother would be entitled if living share and share alike Lastly I make constitute and appoint the said Edmund Cooper Executor in Trust of this Will In Witness whereof I have hereunto sett my Hand and Seal the twenty sixth day of June 1790 – Martha Chambers
